Marshall Wall. The longest and most challenging ride in the series, it brings fear to the hearts of many. The route takes us north through San Anselmo, Fairfax, over White’s Hill and then through Nicasio Valley to the Cheese Factory. After the Cheese Factory the route continue’s north on the Point-Reyes-Petaluma Rd for about a mile or so and then take a left on Hicks Valley Rd.

After an easy climb the road drops down to a long stretch and then after a mile there is split in the road where we take the left to Marshall. 5 miles later we get to Marshall Wall itself. It’s a tough climb, especially at the start. In all, it’s 2 miles with a several false summits. Last year when we got there we faced a 30 mph head wind. The year before it was raining. You start to realize why even Ride Leaders fear this ride!

Once over Marshall Wall there is 2-3 mile descent to Highway 1 where we turn south for 7 miles towards Point Reyes. This stretch of road is just fantastic. Smooth asphalt hugging Tomales Bay, its just incredible. From Point Reyes the route takes us south to Olema, through Samuel P.Taylor Park to Fairfax and then home.
